Photo installation guide

Installing a dishwasher in an IKEA kitchen can be complicated. In general, a dishwasher with an 80 cm (Metod) front can be used in combination with the adapt-r without problems. However, there are a number of steps you need to follow carefully in order to achieve a good end result.

We have photographed the steps of the installation process of all adapt-r systems, to show you how it works. A picture says more than 1000 words, but for clarification we have added text instructions as well. Please let us know if something is not clear, so that we make it clearer for everyone.

Installing the adapt-r Basic, Easy and Premium

Place the dishwasher in its final position. It can be placed between two kitchen cabinets, or between a kitchen cabinet and a finishing panel. With the adapt-r Premium+, it is even possible to have a freestanding dishwasher. This is useful when your machine will be placed next to an oven or cooker, for example. The mounting points of the hinges cannot be screwed into the cooker, which means that the adapt-r Basic and Easy are not suitable when the dishwasher is placed next to a cooker.

The top of the dishwasher must be lined up with the underside of the worktop. This ensures that you don’t have to bend down too far in the future. It is also necessary to ensure the adapt-r works properly. Most dishwashers are not high enough. In that case, you should put the dishwasher on an elevation or other type of support. Here, we need supports that are between 4 and 6.5 cm in height.

We decide to elevate the dishwasher using bricks. These bricks are 5 cm thick, and are well suited to our situation.

Place the bricks under the dishwasher feet. Make sure the surface is firm and flat, so that everything is stable.

There is still a space of about 1.5 cm between the dishwasher and the worktop. We now need to ensure the dishwasher is at the right height, which can be done by adjusting the feet. Make sure that the front and back feet are raised at approx. the same rate. For example, if you adjust the left front foot 5 turns, also adjust the right front foot and the back feet 5 turns (in our example, the dishwasher only has 3 feet). If 5 turns does not give you sufficient height, adjust one foot again with a number of turns and repeat this process with the other feet.

The back foot can be adjusted using a cordless drill. You have to adjust this foot more or less on feeling.

The dishwasher is now in place. Make sure, however, that the underside is securely positioned and that the top lines up with the worktop.

Make sure the top of your dishwasher lines up with the worktop.

All adapt-r systems are 19 mm thick. This means that the dishwasher must be pushed back 19 mm compared to the other kitchen cabinets. An average dishwasher is approx. 55 cm deep, so you usually have enough space to push the dishwasher back slightly. Make sure there are no drain pipes, water pipes or gas valves behind the dishwasher.

Push the dishwasher back 19 mm compared to the adjacent kitchen cabinets. Measure this distance from the side of the cabinet, not including the door.
